January – Jacqueline Leal

Student of the month, Jacqueline Leal is a senior at Rio Vista High School. Jacqueline is an active member of the RVHS community. Her favorite subjects in school are engineering and English. She belongs to the Robotics Club, is Co-President of the Health and Science Careers Club, and is the Co-Editor-in Chief of the Netherlands Yearbook. Jacqueline has also achieved Highest Honors and was one of the Top Ten Juniors in her class.

Growing up in Isleton, Jacqueline had a lot of support from her loving family. Mom, Rocio Leal and Dad, Antonio Leal have helped Jacqueline along the way while sisters, Abigail and Selene, support her as well. Jacqueline showed her civic mindedness this November, when she helped as a voting volunteer in Isleton to ensure that ballots cast were not tampered with by anyone.

In the recent past, Jacqueline has spent her summers studying and trying to advance her educational goals. She has attended the Academic Talent Search at Sacramento State University and participated in UC Irvine’s Neurology Journal Club where she learned to analyze and interpret scholarly research articles.

Jacqueline knows that she’d like to attend college to study biomedical engineering but is still undecided on where she will attend. Wherever she goes, Jacqueline is bound for success and we wish you well in all of your endeavors!
