Soroptimists Honor Guadalupe Ruiz
As Student of the Month

Rio Vista High School senior Guadalupe Ruiz was selected by the RVHS English department as Soroptimist Student of the Month for September. Lupita, as she is known, is a native Rio Vistan, the daughter of Valeriano and Eufrosina Ruiz. She has four brothers and a sister.

She reports that her favorite subjects in school are English and Math, and she has earned highest scholastic honors every year. She plays volleyball and soccer. After high school graduation, she hopes to attend the University of the Pacific in the pre-Physical Therapy program.

Lupita is already well-known to local Soroptimists as a recipient of their Violet Richardson award for volunteerism. She has worked at the Rio Vista Food Pantry every Sunday since she was in seventh grade, assisting with food distribution.

Lupita attended Soroptimist’s September meeting with her mother. In recognition of her scholastic and volunteer achievements Lorelyn Hechtman, Food Pantry Board President, and Vicky Turk and Alduenda Yesenia of RVHS also attended.
