SOROPTIMIST STUDENT OF THE MONTH
A GIFTED ARTIST

Soroptimists honored RVHS Student of the Month Austin Francis at an October meeting. Austin was nominated for the honor by the Visual and Performing Arts Department and was accompanied to the lunch meeting by his art teacher, Megan Brooks.

Austin is a Rio Vista native, the son of Daniel and Cathey Francis and brother of Audrey. He is an honor roll student, and particularly talented in the arts. He plays drums, piano and guitar, is leader of a band, and teaches music lessons. Of the visual arts, he enjoys drawing, painting and film production.

Austin lists his favorite classes as Art and English Literature. He has served as President of AFS, Art Club and Music Club, and is a member of Interact and the Photography Club. He has participated in the academic decathlon as well as football and swimming. He enjoyed a summer stay in Italy where he was able to study and practice visual arts.

Austin hopes to attend college to study music and art, possibly at UCLA. Soroptimists are pleased to recognize his many achievements.
