Get Out the Vote March – October 10, 2020

On October 10, 2020, twenty Soroptimist International Rio Vista members marched down State Highway 12 of Rio Vista to celebrate the 100th Anniversary of the 19th Amendment Women’s Right to Vote.

The group wore Suffragist costumes in honor of the women who so long ago fought for women’s right to vote. These women went on hunger strikes, were jailed, and fought for their lives to have the same rights as men. The goal was to reach out to young women. Many studies have shown that adults ages 18-24 are the lowest number of voters. Women have earned the right, and SIRV strongly encourages them to embrace that right and let their voices be heard.
