Soroptimist International of Rio Vista sponsors or takes part in several events throughout the year. The following list is somewhat fluid because events can change from year to year.

March or April – LUNAFEST
Attendees enjoy a glamorous national film festival of short films by, for, and about women, door prizes and raffles.

April – Human Trafficking Summit: Education and Awareness
This biennial event includes speakers, short films and discussion to extend awareness of this pervasive problem in society and nearby communities.

May – Academic Awards
The club sponsors this annual event for Rio Vista High School students, recognizing academic achievement and honoring our scholarship award winners.

August – Hog August Bites
The club is dormant over the summer but the club often kicks off their “Freezer Full of Meats” drawing.

September – Open House/Welcome Back Mixer
The club holds an Open House/Welcome Back Mixer for friends and potential members. Attendees enjoy appetizers, drinks and reminiscences on summer past, and excitement about upcoming Soroptimist projects and events.

October Rio Vista Bass Derby
The club often has a parade entry and our snazzy racer and a young female driver are usually entered in the Downhill Race, if the race is sponsored. The winner of the “Freezer Full of Meats” raffle is announced.

November – Bingo Night
Attendees enjoy a catered dinner, dessert and snacks, then we play every variation of bingo… postage stamps, double six packs and lucky sevens, to name a few. There are numerous door prizes, raffle prizes, and a silent auction.
