Soroptimist International of Rio Vista sponsors these signature projects that reflect key club values.
Days for Girls
Our club partners with the El Cerrito club and Days for Girls to sew sustainable menstrual kits containing 100% cotton shields, liners (pads), underpants, soap in a wet bag, and washcloths. The kits are sent to a Soroptimist Club in Kenya near Kisumu to distribute to a local school.
Dream It Be It Conference
Dream It, Be It: Career Support for Girls, a program of Soroptimist International, targets girls in high school who face obstacles to their future success. The semi-annual conference provides girls with access to professional role models, career education and the resources to live their dreams.
Human Trafficking Summit
Every few years the club conducts a Human Trafficking Summit to inform support personnel and interested community members about this pervasive problem in society and nearby communities. The Summit has not been conducted since 2019 due to the pandemic.
RVHS “S” Club
The “S” Club is an extracurricular service club for Rio Vista High School students sponsored by the club.
Survival Bag Project
The club assembles survival bags with pajamas, under clothing, tooth brushes, shampoos, soaps and feminine hygiene products for women and girls in partnership with the Solano County Center for Family Justice, which provides assistance for victims of domestic violence, human trafficking, child abuse and sexual assault.
